Experienced fire safety professionals for film and TV production. All our fire officers are serving or ex wholetime and retained firefighters, regularly trained at Morton-in-the-Marsh Fire College.

Fire Safety on Set

At GWAS we can provide your production with experienced firefighters to act as fire marshals and on-set fire officers, along with extinguishers, alarms and a full fire risk assessment service.

All our fire staff are current or ex fire & rescue service personnel, regularly training at Morton-in-the-Marsh Fire College. Our Fire Officers are dual-qualified — also trained as Casualty Care EMTs, meaning they can support the Set Medic in a serious incident.

Fire Marshals

The role of the fire marshal is to ensure all fire safety equipment on set is in working order and a clear plan exists for what to do in the event of a fire.

Regular testing of fire exits, alarms, fire doors, emergency exits and other equipment

Ensuring nothing within the studio or location could cause a fire or obstruct egress

Making sure new crew members and existing cast & crew are familiar with fire safety procedures

Ensuring everyone is aware of their nearest fire exits

Conducting a full fire risk assessment of the location

Ensuring current safety protocols are followed throughout the shoot

On-Set Fire Officers

The use of fire — any open flame — constitutes a particularly hazardous situation on any film set. Our Fire Officers manage this risk with full operational experience.

Pre-shoot risk assessment and correct placement of firefighting media, signs and alarms

Assume the role of Fire Marshal during shooting

Manage the use of any open flame — candles, fireplaces, campfires, lighters and pyrotechnics

Extreme care around hazardous flame sequences to protect cast and crew

All Fire Officers are trained firefighters with extensive on-set experience

All Fire Officers are also Casualty Care trained as EMTs — able to back up the Set Medic if required

All our fire officers are serving or ex wholetime / retained firefighters
