Developed by GWAS Ambulance Group to support venues, organisers and operational planners preparing for Martyn's Law obligations.

Why We Built This Tool

Martyn's Law has transformed the conversation around public event safety and venue preparedness. Yet many organisations understand the legislative headlines but still struggle with the practical question: What does real readiness actually look like?

Compliance documentation exists. Safety policies are in place. But translating legal requirements into operational reality — identifying specific gaps and building a practical, medically informed response capability — remains challenging for many organisations.

GWAS built the Martyn's Law Readiness Planner to bridge that gap. This is not a compliance checkbox. It is a practical planning tool designed to help you move beyond paperwork into genuine, operational preparedness.

The GWAS Difference

This is not a generic compliance checker. The Readiness Planner is informed by GWAS operational experience and grounded in the GWAS white paper: Beyond Compliance: A Readiness Framework for Event Medicine Under Martyn's Law.

GWAS takes the view that preparedness must go beyond simple compliance language. Event medicine and prehospital response are a core part of public safety planning. Readiness must be practical, usable, and rooted in operational reality.

About This Tool

The Martyn's Law Readiness Planner is designed to support practical preparedness review. It helps organisations think more clearly about their readiness, identify specific gaps, and develop action plans to improve their emergency and medical preparedness.

Important: This tool supports planning and preparedness and does not constitute legal advice or certification of compliance.

The GWAS Readiness Framework

The planner is built on a four-phase readiness model developed by GWAS to help venues and event organisers move from legislative awareness to operational preparedness.

01

Understand the Risk Environment

Identify the nature of your venue or event, your audience profile, and the specific safety risks you are required to address under Martyn's Law. Understanding your risk environment is the foundation of effective preparedness.

02

Assess Current Preparedness

Review your existing procedures, plans, trained staff, and emergency response capability. Honest assessment of your current position is essential before identifying where improvement is needed.

03

Identify Gaps

Compare your current readiness against the requirements and expectations of Martyn's Law across security, medical response, communication, and evacuation planning. Identify where specific gaps exist.

04

Build an Action Plan

Translate your gap assessment into a practical improvement plan with clear priorities. The planner helps you structure next steps so your organisation can make meaningful, measurable progress toward genuine readiness.

The framework is grounded in the GWAS white paper:
