Clinical Governance & Operational Standards
GWAS Ambulance Group operates to structured clinical governance standards that underpin every deployment and operational decision.
Why Governance Matters
In medical support, governance is what separates professional, reliable providers from those who simply turn up.
GWAS Ambulance Group has built its reputation on operational standards, structured systems and a commitment to quality that runs through everything we do.
Clinical Governance
Clinical governance is an operational reality at GWAS. Our framework defines how we plan, deploy, operate and review medical support delivery — not just a policy document.
Operational Standards
Structured operational standards ensure consistent professional delivery across all deployments, from event medical cover to specialist operations.
Structured Systems
Documented systems for planning, deployment, communication and handover ensure operational standards are maintained and nothing is left to chance.
Incident Reporting
A structured incident reporting framework supports learning, accountability and continuous improvement across all operational activity.
Experienced Personnel
Our clinicians are trained, experienced and deployed in role-appropriate positions. Clinical oversight structures ensure professional standards are maintained at all times.
Quality-Focused Delivery
Operational review, client feedback and internal processes ensure we deliver to the standards we set ourselves and that our clients expect.
Governance in Practice
Structured systems supporting clinicians, operations and organisational oversight.
GWAS supports its clinical and operational governance through structured internal systems designed to improve communication, policy access, operational awareness and staff coordination.
These systems help ensure that governance is not limited to documents alone, but is embedded into day-to-day practice across events, sporting operations, film production support and specialist deployments.

Governance Framework Overview
The following areas form part of the GWAS clinical governance and operational standards framework. Full policies are maintained internally and are available on request to relevant stakeholders.
Clinical Governance Framework
GWAS operates a structured clinical governance framework that sets standards for all operational activity. This framework encompasses clinical oversight, deployment planning, incident management and quality review — ensuring every deployment is underpinned by consistent professional standards.
Medicines Management
GWAS maintains appropriate medicines management policies covering the supply, storage, administration and disposal of clinical medications used across operational deployments. Procedures are maintained in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.
Safeguarding
GWAS has safeguarding policies in place for both adults and children. All personnel working in environments where they may encounter vulnerable individuals are appropriately trained and supported in line with current safeguarding legislation and guidance.
Clinical SOP Library
A library of clinical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) supports consistent clinical practice across all GWAS deployments. SOPs are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect current clinical guidance and operational learning.
Training & Professional Development
GWAS is committed to the ongoing training and professional development of all clinical personnel. Staff are supported to maintain and develop their skills and qualifications, with continuing professional development encouraged at all levels of the organisation.
Policy Development
GWAS contributes to policy development within the sectors it serves — including polo and equestrian sport, aviation medicine, and school sport safety. This external contribution reflects the organisation's commitment to raising standards beyond its own operational boundaries.
Operational Standards in Practice
Trained Personnel. Role-Appropriate Deployment.
Every GWAS clinician is deployed in a role appropriate to their training, experience and qualifications.
We do not overstate capability, and we do not deploy personnel beyond their competence. This commitment to honest, structured deployment is central to our governance approach and to the confidence our clients place in us.

100% UKREMT Registered Staff & Subcontractors
Every GWAS clinician — whether directly employed or engaged as a subcontractor — is fully registered with the UKREMT (United Kingdom Register of Emergency Medical Teams). This is a non-negotiable requirement for anyone deployed under the GWAS banner.
The UKREMT is the UK's independent national register for Emergency Medical Teams and pre-hospital practitioners. Registration requires verified qualifications, current practice evidence and adherence to professional standards — providing clients with a transparent, independently verified record of clinical credentials for every individual deployed on their event or project.
